There is always a need for better insulation whether it be to keep the cold out or to keep the warmth inside your property, the overall goal is normally to reduce utility bills when it comes to the cost of heating. Not to state the obvious, but the property development industry is huge and continues an increased level of growth regardless of anything else that is going on, properties are always being built and with that come a world of products that some might not be familiar with.

Mineral wool insulation

Have you ever heard of mineral wool insulation? Not to worry, most people haven’t and in fact your average person would likely refer to insulation as, well, insulation regardless of what it is made from. Typically, fibre glass is the first material that would come to most minds, purely because it was so common.

Mineral wool insulation, is similar to look at but is made with the use of mineral stone, basalt or diabase which offer much more in terms of insulation characteristics in addition to other benefits including safety, water proofing and saving you money in the long term.

What does it offer?

Safety first – the mineral stones used to create mineral wool insulation are incredibly durable and resistant to high temperatures which makes it safer than fibre glass. For example, if a fire broke out the spread would be lessened causing less damage.

Money savings

Overall mineral wool insulation is slightly more expensive, maybe around 10% or so, but in the long run you should save money.

Water proof

With its waterproof characteristics, mineral wool insulation is really good for roof insulation (called ฉนวนกันความร้อนหลังคา in Thai), certainly considering that the roof is the first point of contact for rain. It will also allow vapour to pass through so any steam in your home can dissipate with ease.

Energy efficiency

Mineral wool’s ability to insulate is much better than other available options which means that over time you should see a saving money, less heat will leave your home and less cold air will come in.

Ease of installation

Although mineral wool insulation is denser it is actually easier to manage so you should find that it can reach places or be installed into places that other alternatives just can’t do as well.
